Honeymoon

I am writing this post during my honeymoon, because I just wanted to share with you all where my husband and I are staying and what a beautiful place this is.

Firstly, for those readers who do not personally know me, I got married on Dec 22, the most beautiful and magical day of my life.

We flew to Bali, Indonesia on 24th Dec. We are staying in The Kayana Villas in Seminyak. We chose a private pool villa. We can’t get over how gorgeous and romantic this place is. It is just so heavenly. We highly recommend The Kayana Villas for anyone who is planning a romantic holiday in Bali.

Hope you enjoy the pics xx

Makeup favorites 2011

Giorgio Armani Eyes to Kill Excess Mascara

Oh My God!! is the only way I can describe this mascara. This creates seriously dramatic lashes. It is very black, and both volumizing and lengthening. I am not really a mascara person so I only use this on special occasions or if I am going out somewhere nice. I think by far, this is the best mascara I have ever tried and used. This was actually recommended by my favorite beauty blogger Huda Kattan (hudabeauty.com).

Giorgio Armani Face Fabric

I am someone who does not use foundation at all, except in weddings or parties (which do not happen so often). I mostly just use powder for my face. Once in a while, if I need more coverage, I tend to use a tinted moisturizer. I decided to try this product after it was highly recommended by my cousins. They promised that it was extremely light and feels like you have nothing on. I am such a sucker for makeup, especially products that are highly recommended, I just couldn’t resist buying it. I must say I am so glad I bought it. It literally feels like powder on the face and is so light, it’s like you have nothing on. It made my face more even toned and radiant and natural of course. I made sure I packed it into my honeymoon makeup bag.

Urban Decay Naked Palette

When this palette came out, Urban Decay still wasn’t available here. This is the one makeup item I was dying to get my hands on after all the madness it caused in the makeup world when it released. I asked my cousin (who is studying in the UK) to buy it and ship it to me but it was out of stock. Anybody and everybody was raving about it. I was ecstatic when I found out they would start stocking Urban Decay in Sephora Dubai. It was immediately out of stock here too, I had to keep my name on a waiting list. I finally got 2 of them (for myself and my sister). The colors are just gorgeous if it’s for everyday wear or even for a special occasion. Again, I am not an eye shadow person but I have used this a few times. It is very pigmented and also includes a small sized eye shadow primer potion (which I also love by the way). Maybe I should do a ‘Face of the Day’ post soon.

*Naked Palette 2 just released too, though I haven’t bought it yet.

Lime Crime Makeup

This is a brand sold online and I first heard about it again from my favorite beauty blogger (hudabeauty.com). Me and my sister Nadya literally went crazy over this brand because of its brightly colored lipsticks and pigment eye shadows. If you love bright colored makeup, then this is the brand for you. Visit www.limecrimemakeup.com to see what I mean.

Chanel Illusion D’Ombre

The only Chanel makeup item I ever bought is a blush (called Reflex), due to how expensive Chanel makeup is. My dad recently got a new job so he asked me to buy what I want as a little treat from his first salary. And what better way to spend it than on makeup. And what better way to spend (not my money) than on Chanel makeup. I literally went nuts at the Chanel counter (I made my poor husband wait for ages).

I had been reading about the Chanel Illusion D’Ombre eyeshadows on various beauty blogs (Vivianna Does Makeup among others) so I asked the makeup artist to show me all the colors. Oh My!! Trust me, you can’t leave with just one color, I bought 3!!! Emerveille (a peachy color), Ebloui (a dark copper, burgundy color), and Epatant (a greenish color). I have no words to describe the texture of these eyeshadows. They each come with a mini Chanel eye shadow brush which I personally liked. The texture is like gel, powder and it glides on to the lid so smoothly. I must definitely post a ‘Face of the Day’ soon using one of these eye shadows.

Mind you, these are not cheap (Dhs 162 if I am not mistaken) and I would definitely not have bought it with my own money. I am using these  sparingly as it is so precious. These are selling out so fast, my sister managed to just get Ebloui as all the other colors were sold out.

Hope you enjoyed my 2011 Makeup favorites post. Please leave a comment saying what product(s) you loved this year, I would love to hear from you.

Skincare Favorites – 2011

Boots Botanics Organic Rosewater Toner

Rosewater is a perfect mattifier for the face and is perfect for keeping the skin fresh (I keep a small spray bottle of rosewater in my office to spray on my face whenever my skin becomes a bit oily in the afternoons). This toner is perfect. I love the smell and it is really mild, not like most toners out there which are really harsh. It is also quite cheap. You can buy this from Boots.

Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Moisturizer

Kiehl’s is a brand I am so happy I discovered this year. They have an excellent range of products including hair products, products for men (I introduced their cleanser for men to my brother, who is averse to putting any products on his face, but he loves this), even baby products. I use this particular moisturizer as part of my nighttime routine as it is a bit thick. A pea sized amount is sufficient for the whole face and neck. It is rich, but not greasy, and it’s perfect for my dry combination skin. In Dubai, this is available only in Bloomingdales in Dubai Mall and Harvey Nichols in Mall of the Emirates.

Philosophy Purity made simple

I can’t live without this cleanser now. Over the years, whichever cleanser I used always felt harsh and full of chemicals. I love how mild and gentle this feels on the face and this is also excellent for removing makeup. It doesn’t have much foam or lather but that’s fine with me, it still does an amazing job keeping my face clean every morning and night. Philosophy is available in Sephora.

Bioderma Sensibio H2O

I recently bought this after so many bloggers raved about it.  It is a gentle makeup remover for face and eyes. I always need a very gentle eye makeup remover as I have extremely sensitive eyes which are so easily prone to infections. This is so gentle and not oily, it is almost as light as water, and so effectively removes my eye as well as face makeup. This can be found in Boots and select pharmacies.

Soap & Glory

First thing that attracts me to Soap & Glory products isssss the pink packaging (my husband would shake his head when he reads this haha, and yes, he actually reads all my posts). Their packaging is so girly and fun, and just makes you want to buy everything. I think me and my sister have almost all their products.  I love their body butters (so moisturizing), shower gels (awesome smell), hand food, even their makeup (love their brow pencil and highlighter in one). I still need to try their body scrub and foot cream. I am sure I would love them too. Soap & Glory is available in Boots.

Hope you enjoyed my skincare favorites for 2011 post. Please leave a comment if you have any other favorites or if you have tried any of mine.

My makeup favorites for 2011 post will be coming up soon xx

Topshop Haul

Oh how tempting Topshop can be! I recently visited the Dubai Mall Topshop store. They have a huge selection of clothes there, probably more than what the other branches have. I just wanted to share what I bought for myself and my twin sister (she lives in Muscat, therefore I do all of her shopping here in Dubai).

Me and my sister Nadya have been obsessed lately with the latest ‘in-color’ – berry. Therefore, I could not resist picking up a gorgeous suede berry colored clutch for the both of us. It is the perfect size and I am definitely going to wear it when I am on my honeymoon (which is 15 days awayJ). It would definitely spice up any outfit, don’t you think?

Another item I picked for us were burgundy colored leggings. I know, I already own lots and lots of leggings, but a girl can never have too many leggings can she?

Another item that me and Nadya love to wear lately is the pencil skirt, as it suits our frames perfectly (since we are so petite). Topshop sell such an amazing range of pencil skirts now. I got the black with lace skirt, and bought a gorgeous green one for Nadya.

One more thing I couldn’t resist buying was one of their ‘supersoft’ blue jeans. I absolutely love how soft and comfortable it is to wear and this is definitely going into my honeymoon bag.

Well, enough of shopping for now (I am going to have an overflowing cupboard, which my husband won’t be very happy about). Until my next post (all about my upcoming wedding on Dec 22nd), see u soon xx

UAE 40th National Day

Hi everyone, just wanted to share with you all some pictures of the UAE 40th National Day (02/12/11). We had a wonderful celebration at work that included the traditional UAE folkloric dance, traditional Arabic food and Arabic poetry reading.

Hope you enjoy the pictures xx
