Tarte Cosmetics was always a brand I was interested in but they never stocked the brand in Dubai or offer international delivery from their website. Sephora in Dubai just started selling Tarte a couple of months ago although ironically their website now offers international shipping too.
Anyhow, the first Tarte product I decided to purchase is the BB tinted treatment primer. A couple of things attracted me to this. Firstly, it is a BB cream which I prefer to use instead of foundation. It is also a primer and the major plus point is that it contains SPF30, and lists zinc oxide as one of its active ingredients. What’s not to love?
The texture of this BB cream is powdery when applied. It has light to medium coverage which is buildable. I usually apply it with a buffing brush or even with my fingers at times. I just need a light layer, and it immediately covers any redness and gives me an even skin tone. It is quite matte and does not really need a powder on top. Skin looks smoother, pores disappear, and since it is also a primer, it leaves my skin oil- free for about 8 hours at least.
This would work best on normal /combination or even oily skin. Also, the zinc-oxide is known for healing the skin and getting rid of blemishes. What more can one ask for?
The Sephora Nuit Kajals were released in Dubai about a month ago with huge hype so I was really excited to buy these and try them. I bought 2 colors- Fascinating Black and Charming Brown.
Firstly, I love eye pencils that don’t need sharpening because I am lazy like that😁😶. YSL did release a similar design for a kajal previously which I didn’t like much and which I also hated because the cap would always slip off. Fortunately , these Sephora Kajals dont have that problem .
I put these eye pencils to the test by applying it early morning before work- on the eyelid as well as waterline. I then use a smudger brush and smudge it slightly to create a subtle smokey effect and to make it look less harsh.
Unfortunately , these do not last well at all on the eyes, especially on the waterline. By afternoon , it looks patchy (bear in mind I don’t have oily eyelids) . Also, if you love very dark black eye pencils, then this isn’t for you. The brown color lasts even less longer for me.
When I have heavy eye makeup on, I make sure I take it all off using a dedicated eye make-up remover before I remove my face make-up using my oil cleansers.
I am onto my second bottle of the Vichy Purete Thermale waterproof eye make-up remover and it is brilliant. I have always hated waterproof eye make-up remover- in general because they are so oily and hated the feeling on my eyes. This one is relatively lighter, and takes everything off with 1 or 2 swipes of a cotton wool. It also doesn’t sting my eyes.
Boots usually has amazing offers which is when I stock up and this is an excellent alternative to other more expensive eye make-up removers in the market.
Anyone a fan of the Vichy Purete Thermale? What products do you use to remove your eye make-up?
Hello my dear friends! I am trying to do more blog posts now, as I have so much to share with you all. It just gets a bit challenging sometimes juggling a full-time job along with looking after a toddler and a baby (and a husband) 😁.
Anyhow, as much as skincare, I love trying out hair products and using products that maintain my thick and long wavy hair. On a whim, I once bought the Davines nounou hair mask. I was really attracted to the fuss-free plastic packaging (although it doesn’t travel well as it reached me with the side broken). It is described as “a nourishing, repairing mask for highly processed or brittle hair”.
I usually buy a shampoo, conditioner and hair mask from the same brand, but since I had enough shampoos and conditioners to last me a while, I thought I should just buy the hair mask. Davines is described as a brand that uses only natural ingredients. My hair is generally in a good condition as I rarely use any heat or styling tools. I always air dry it. Lately however, I felt my hair requires a little more TLC as I get my roots colored once every month and occasionally get all my hair colored. Whenever my hair feels meh, I apply this mask after shampooing and leave it on for about 5 to 7 min (that is all the free time I can manage before one of the kids start noticing that I’m gone). This mask immediately transforms my hair into smooth, soft, easy to handle luscious locks. The Davines nounou mask smells amazing and my hair feels so much healthier and shinier.
I definitely recommend it for those with chemically treated, dry or damaged hair and it would be best to leave it on for at least 15 min.
I ordered mine from Cult Beauty and it costs £18.50 for 250ml of product. Do any of you use Davines products? What are your favorite hair masks?
It’s been a while since I posted anything about makeup but anything Charlotte Tilbury deserves a mention (or blog post) 😀.
Her Hot Lips lipsticks were too hard to resist especially since they were in collaboration with certain celebrities. It was so hard for me to choose but I went for 3 different pink shades as I find pink toned lipsticks suit my skintone better.
The first one is Liv it Up named after Liv Tyler. It’s a pale pink shade which is hydrating and has a satin finish. I was worried that this particular shade would not suit me because it’s too pale but I quite like it and is perfect for wearing to the office as it is really subtle. Love it.

The second pink shade I chose was Bosworth’s Beauty which is a bright pink shade and this is my favorite of the 3. Named after Kate Bosworth, this has a matte finish but Charlotte Tilbury takes matte to a whole new level. I am yet to come across a matte lipstick that matches her formula which is hydrating yet has a matte finish. It doesn’t tug at the lips at all.

The third pink shade I went for is a fuschia color called Electric Poppy named after Poppy Delevingne. This also has a matte finish and is extremely flattering on the lips.

I bought my lipsticks online from Beautylish and each costs $32.
Has anyone bought any of the lipsticks from this collection? What’s your favorite color?
Hi everybody! All those who personally know me or have been following me in social media know how skincare obsessed I am. I have always kept myself updated on latest skincare brands and through trial and error have worked out what works best on me.
For about a year now, I have started incorporating retinol into my skincare routine (all thanks to Caroline Hirons). Once we cross the age of 30, we need to take extra care of our skin and retinol is the answer. For those who are not sure about what is retinol and what it’s benefits are- Retinol, or Vitamin A is an anti oxidant and the answer to fighting wrinkles and it’s also anti-aging therefore, it is best for mature skin and in my opinion, not really necessary for people in their 20s. Retinol can also shrink pore size caused by clogging or sun damage (not genetic ones). It does not have to be used every single day. Every alternate day is sufficient but it has to be follow by spf the following morning (and every morning of course).
My first foray into the usage of retinol is with Sunday Riley Luna Sleeping Night Oil. I use it after every 2 nights, right after double cleansing my skin. This oil is fabulous. I have been using it for about a year now, straight after I stopped breastfeeding my child (avoid using any retinol products while pregnant or breastfeeding). My skin has never looked better. It has become virtually poreless with no pigmentation and looks so even-toned. My skin (especially the morning after application) looks so plump and radiant.
Sunday Riley Luna Sleeping Night Oil costs a bomb (£85 for 30ml of product) and can be purchased from Space NK or Cult Beauty websites. It lasts extremely long though, and is worth every penny for the benefits it gives. Another costlier alternative is the Zelens Vitamin A treatment drops which costs a whopping £115 for 30ml of product.
Disclaimer: This review is entirely based on my experience with Sunday Riley Luna. Please do sufficient research at your end before using any retinol based product especially if your skin is not accustomed to such products.
Breakouts on the face are the worst thing that can happen to a girl, especially if they ‘magically’ appear the day of a big event. Been there done that countless times.
Well, I have got just the product which will rescue you out of that situation (if done the right time and way of course). Ever since I incorporated acid toning to my daily skincare routine, I have barely experienced any breakouts. (Thank you Caroline Hirons)👍.
The weather in Dubai has been pretty gross lately with lots of sandy wind which really doesn’t do my skin any favors. I had suddenly discovered 2 major breakouts on my forehead to my dismay. I took out my favorite Alpha H glycolic acid treatment (which I use every alternate night as a toner). I soaked a piece of cotton wool with it and applied directly on the breakout and kept it there for a few seconds. I kept doing this every 2 hours or so or whenever I remembered throughout the day and the next. The breakouts did not get worse, became less red and disappeared without leaving a scar in about 2 days. It was pure magic. Make sure you keep your face moisturized with a face oil though, as all that toning can be drying.
The trick is to get the breakout in its beginning stage otherwise I am not sure how effective the process would be.
I purchase my Alpha H from Cult Beauty and other alternatives are the Clarins Gentle Exfoliator Brightening Toner and the Pixi Glow Tonic. Make sure you use your Spf the morning after and every morning of course for extra protection.
