My visit to Aveda Dubai Flagship Salon

I almost always do reviews of products in my blog but this time I thought I would do a post on my visit to a hair salon in Dubai.

My sister and I decided to visit the Aveda Dubai  Flagship Salon in Dubai and all I can say is WOW! ! It is located on the roof of the Galleria Mall in Jumeirah and what a stunning place the salon is.

Entrance to the salon

Firstly , you don’t need to go through the mall to get to the salon. There is a lift only for Aveda customers situated at the entrance of the mall. The salon is very spacious with separate areas for hair, nails, Aveda products and other services. There was also plenty of natural light due to the number of windows and a cosy area with tables and chairs at the terrace to relax if required .

Service was excellent the moment we stepped in. We were initially shown around the whole salon and then seated at the hair section. Before starting on our hair we were given a shoulder, neck and head massage with one of the Aveda natural oils which we were made to choose.

We were happy to know that Aveda products are more than 95% natural and the Aveda hair color that was used on us smelled fabulous. We usually hate the chemical smell of hair color.

I particularly loved the wall of natural leaves facing the nail section as well as the wall showing the history and achievements of Aveda ever since the brand was introduced. They even had a flat lay especially set up for those who want to post a picture on Instagram .

Some of the ingredients used in the Aveda products

We made sure we left with an Aveda shampoo and conditioner and we will definitely be trying more products especially since they contain naturally derived ingredients and are paraben and sulphate-free.

Amazing Aveda products for sale

We highly recommend the Aveda Dubai Flagship Salon and we will definitely be back.

Sephora Nuit Kajal- review

The Sephora Nuit Kajals were released in Dubai about a month ago with huge hype so I was really excited to buy these and try them. I bought 2 colors- Fascinating Black and Charming Brown.

Firstly, I love eye pencils that don’t need sharpening because I am lazy like that😁😶. YSL did release a similar design for a kajal previously which I didn’t like much and which I also hated because the cap would always slip off. Fortunately , these Sephora Kajals dont have that problem .

I put these eye pencils to the test by applying it early morning before work- on the eyelid as well as waterline. I then use a smudger brush and smudge it slightly to create a subtle smokey effect and to make it look less harsh.

Unfortunately , these do not last well at all on the eyes, especially on the waterline. By afternoon , it looks patchy (bear in mind I don’t have oily eyelids) . Also, if you love very dark black eye pencils, then this isn’t for you. The brown color lasts even less longer for me.

I would give these a 6 over 10 and I have way better alternatives for eye pencils/kajals. Read my post on the blackest eye pencils https://naysdesires.wordpress.com/2015/11/14/the-blackest-eye-pencils/?preview=true

I am currently loving the Victoria Beckham Estee Lauder eye kajal in Black Saffron.

What are your favorite eye pencils/kajals? What are your thoughts on the Sephora Nuit Kajals?

October empties

October Empties

This month of October I have finished 4 amazing products that I literally can’t live without and already have back ups of.

Firstly the Nuxe Dry Oil is my favorite body oil because it’s light on the skin, leaves my body feeling smooth and soft and also smells wonderful. I like using it at night mostly before bedtime.

Acid toning is the most important part of my skincare routine and 2 products that give my skin a healthy glow is the Alpha H Liquid Gold as well as the Zelens resurfacing facial pads. I alternate between these two every night and ever since I started incorporating these 2 products into my routine, my face has become brighter, smoother and almost poreless. For Zelens, the only drawback is that it is too expensive as are all other Zelens products (my favorite skincare brand).

Lastly, a product I didn’t expect to fall so much in love with is the Vichy Aqualia Thermal Serum. I use this every morning before my moisturiser. This is the best hydrating serum I have ever tried and nothing beats it. Too bad we can’t find it in Dubai. I ordered mine from Lookfantastic.

Let me know what products you have recently finished and your thoughts. Would love to hear your opinions.

Christian Louboutin Silky Satin lip colour in Ronron

After taking one look at the glamorous Christian Louboutin lipsticks,  I knew I had to get my hands on at least one (or two).

The lipsticks come in 3 formulations. One of the shades I bought is called Ronron which is a silky satin formula. This is a gorgeous purple shade which I am so glad I chose because I don’t own any lipstick in a similar shade.

I found it extremely flattering on me, very wearable and not too daring a colour. The pigmentation is amazing and it feels so moisturising on the lips and is longlasting and not drying.

Look out for my next blog post with the second CL lipstick I bought in a tdf colour.

Would love to know if any of my readers took the plunge and bought these lipsticks and in which shade.

I ordered mine online from the Saks Fifth Avenue website for AED 355 with free shipping. Unfortunately,  it is sold for almost AED 100 more here in Dubai.

New in from House of Harlow

Hi guys! Boy am I so glad it’s the weekend here in Dubai. Days are flying so quickly and before we know it, it will be Eid already. I can’t wait:)

Today, I finally bought myself something that I was always dying to get my hands on- the House of Harlow sunburst necklace. I am usually more into earrings and not necklaces, but I have always admired this particular necklace on people.

So I visited West L.A Boutique today in Sunset Mall and decided to buy it. It’s not really cheap (Dhs 360), but I thought what the heck, let me treat myself:) It is so gorgeous and I plan to wear it on Eid. I also love how it can be worn in two different ways.

What do you guys think? I am also eyeing the gorgeous headpieces that West L.A Boutique sells. Just waiting for my sister to arrive in Dubai next weekend so we can do a bit of jewellery shopping together.
